by the time you rise, I’ll be so far from home beyond the morning sun, and danger end to end free the world behind your eyes free the world behind your eyes the palette of your mind, is all you’ll ever need to dance beneath the moon, far lighter than the wind free the world behind your eyes free the world behind your eyes somewhere in the night, I’m standing at the door back into your heart, but I’ve been there all along free the world behind your eyes free the world behind your eyes
2.
Like a ghost 03:46
like a ghost on the breeze the water flows tourmaline come to me come to me like a bird sing the dawn move to kill no remorse come to me come to me come to me come to me have a chair settle down behind the door dogs are out come to me won’t you come to me like a ghost push on through electric sky wasted youth come to me come to me find a way run to me
3.
In the dream 01:53
you called me in the dream for the first time since that day I heard you early in Spring but my how you’ve changed and vanish as you please just like the sun through the drapes of our lucky youth it pushes through with heroes and heroines of the sea but you you never saw me as a man crashing through the waves with the laughter and fire of Apollo so now I touch you in the dream and learn to fly
4.
Motley Waeyn 03:33
once was a man from One Tree Hill who’s forebear was a slave a ruthless rogue and he went by the name of Motley Waeyn he ventured West and found me there I asked what of his game ‘from your abode I’ve come’ he howled ‘I’ve put them all away’ I raged and ran with blood red eye my bid was way too late you slay my kin and stole my wife well damn you Motley Waeyn

waiting for you down along the township palisade come along the rise toward Observatory lane prying eyes from every window follow through the by-ways trees and moving shadows frame another lazy Sunday up onto the crest, we sit by the monster dome who would want to work inside it up here, I don’t know look at how the city lights quake in perfect splendour confide in me your secret dreams of moonlight on the heather
7.
Holly Grove 02:51
Wrecking fast in Holly Grove drawn to faces growing old you hide in colours on the incline but like a white horse in the sun your comet forces have become a trailing voice between the entry lines you have left behind Lying lucky in the field her body sings for all to hear nothing will avail the moment now you barely move as if I’m there but I hear angels everywhere landing ragged down in Holly Grove for real this time around freehold friends behave the night wires crossed, hanging fine a skip and stone from my troubled mind ten to one we whistle down the porters on this hallowed ground there’s something strange about the tailor-mades you have left behind
8.
one by one the angels fall on that cartwheel road facing down long days of fire my mountain home home… the ghost of Agamemnon rides beside us now down into the valley of thieves made by giants between the age old stone below… Outside the glass the breakthrough sun rails on alone on my love’s lair alone…
9.
Acanthus 01:35
10.
Silver rings 05:38
mostly grey, the scene descends in tombstone colours of the storm rings of silver dance and play in the first rays of…the dawn her hands lay motionless and pale as every winter day lays claim to every fragment of her form what happened to our maiden light she once was evergreen and fine once was brave but now denied why down into the field we roll cast forgiveness to the wind birds come rushing mother mean for to find out where you’ve been hate to steal your last goodbye but take whatever you did find leave the room without a trace he just likes the way you dance and count the lines upon your hand the time is yours and yours is mine
11.
way before way before the rain way before the night fell you sang one last melody to the trees rivers and stones of your past without a hitch or did you see me and pretend I was nothing but a fake like the tears of a friend looking for bail but never mind still still you sang to the earth and heavens because way way before the rain you bled one last goodbye

about

This idea was long brewing in my head - it was only a matter of finding the time to pull it off.
Enter the pandemic and among other unsavoury things, many of us had truckloads of spare time. Some even had trouble filling it. So, as an exercise in drawn-out tedium and elastic mindfuckery, I decided to buckle down and learn how to record on my desktop. This is the end result…I hope it transports you to a place that’s somewhat warm and fuzzy.
Ever since my first feeble attempts on the guitar, the acoustic finger-picked stylings of old bluesmen/women and folkies had always held a special place in my mind, even though I’d been messin' with an electric guitar on that well-worn garage trail with my school mates. Fun times, yes, but back at home, besides Jimi etc.. I’d also listen to people like John Lee Hooker, Bert Jansch, Leadbelly, Lightnin' Hopkins, Charley Patton, Elizabeth Cotton, Dylan, Robert Johnson, John Fahey and side B of Led Zep’s third album.
These influences are sometimes obvious – I don’t really mind. I have a head FULL of this music, and to paraphrase John Lee, it’s gotta come out.

Peace and strength to you
